The Children’s Board Family Resource Centers in East County opened up in October, 2012 to provide services and resources in the eastern part of Hillsborough County. The Center is located in the heart of Plant City and is one of six Centers in the county focusing on both adults and kids.
A variety of different classes and services are available promoting child development including developmental screening, family stability, safety information, nutrition education, and the enhancement of job-related activities. All services are at no cost to participants.
The Center is flourishing! The skills and enthusiasm that each staff member brings to the Center helps provide a loving and caring environment that caters to each individual and family. The spacious multi-purpose room creates a comfortable atmosphere where everyone who walks through the doors feels safe, supported and valued.
The computer lab is a busy area where members are welcome to use the computer to search for job opportunities, update or create a resume, access learning opportunities and allow students to complete school assignments and projects. The fun and colorful children’s play area is unique and a special place where children are engaged in age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, story time, music, and active play.
The programs and services provided at the Centers are driven by input from participating families, who are part of the Family Community Advisory Council. Needs are assessed, ideas are brainstormed, priorities are set and plans are developed as families, staff and community agencies work together.
Stop by and visit the Center, ask questions, and become involved. The Children’s Board Family Resource Centers are here to help you become Happier, Healthier and Stronger!
